Bringing Home 10k

I am beyond drained, lets just start off with that!

I am not sure if many of you are that there is a current grant out there available to new business owners! The government is giving out 10k grants to anyone who qualifies!

I thought that applying for grants would be difficult ( some are) but in this case, it was very straight forward about what is needed to be able to apply. Just because it was straight forward does not mean it wasnt difficult.

They require you to have:

1. A NEW signed lease from both parties. You must be moving into a new vacant commercial space.

2. Must have your EIN number ( proof of it, meaning have some IRS documents with your business and EIN number listed) If you dont, let me save you some time. Call this number 800-829-4933 Press (1) Press (2) Press (3) you may get disconnected if they are too busy. I called every minute for 10 mins and I got through at 10 am! You will be put on hold ( I was on hold for 2 hours) . When you speak to a rep ask them to please FAX you a proof of EIN as well as mail it to you. It is important to have it faxed so that you are able to receive it the same day. Use Faxes if you dont have a fax # or machine.

3. Occupancy permit - when applying for the permit only list whats inside of your building, if you dont have an elevator in your suite or business, you wont need to check boxes like that on your application. The application is $10 and the license itself is $245 ( in Wisconsin). After you pay for the license you may then schedule permit appointments. I suggest you call the office and ask for direct numbers to speak with inspectors instead of just playing the waiting game.

4. Acknowledgement Letters- This is a letter that you request from the city or listed businesses that can create this letter for you. It is free. I will save you some time. This lady was extremely nice and she wrote my letter. Email her for a quick response!

5. Make sure you read all information carefully and dont forget any documents! You can get rejected and have to resubmit proper information, but dont make that mistake! Get everything together and make sure before you send!
